Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Easy yet elegant: Minimal prep time but guaranteed to wow your guests.

Customizable: Peel the brie for maximum gooeyness or score it for a structured melt.

One dish, no waste: The bread bowl and cubes double as the perfect dippers.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Sourdough bread: The sturdy crust and chewy texture make it the ideal vessel for the creamy brie.

Brie cheese: Opt for a wheel that fits snugly into your bread bowl.

Garlic parmesan butter: A flavorful blend of melted butter, garlic, parsley, parmesan, and seasonings takes this dish to the next level.

Olive oil: Adds richness to the bread cubes for perfect toasting.

Tips for Success

Choose your bread wisely: Sourdough works best, but a crusty boule will do in a pinch.

Enhance the flavor: Add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of honey for a sweet-and-savory twist.

Make it ahead: Assemble the bread bowl and garlic butter up to a day in advance. Bake fresh before serving.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 round loaf of sourdough bread
  • 1 wheel of brie cheese (8–12 oz)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the brie wheel on top of the sourdough loaf and use it as a stencil to trace a circle. Cut out the traced section and hollow out the center of the bread just enough to fit the brie snugly. Set aside the bread pieces you’ve removed for later.
Prepare the brie. You can either peel the top rind off the brie for a gooier texture or score the top of the brie in a criss-cross pattern to help it melt evenly.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Brush the inside of the hollowed-out bread bowl generously with the garlic parmesan butter mixture. Place the prepared brie wheel inside the bread bowl. Brush the outside of the brie/bread loaf with the butter mixture as well.
  3. Cube the section of bread you removed. Drizzle the bread cubes with olive oil, remaining parmesan cheese, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Arrange them on a baking sheet around the bread bowl.
  4. Place the bread bowl and the cubed bread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown, the cubes are crisp, and the brie is bubbly and melted.
  5. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Serve the baked brie with the toasted bread cubes for dipping. Enjoy!
