Ingredients

  • 2 beef patties
  • 2 slices of cheddar or American cheese, chopped
  • 1 cup finely shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1 large white onion, diced
  • 8 pickles slices
  • 2 Italian sub rolls, sliced lengthwise
  • 2-3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2-3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the ketchup and mayonnaise until combined.
  2. Spread the ketchup-mayo sauce inside the Italian sub rolls. Layer the shredded lettuce along the bottom of each roll. Add the diced raw onion and dill pickle slices.
  3. Heat the cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the beef patties and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side while breaking the patties apart with a spatula into small chunks.
  4. Sprinkle the chopped cheese over the crumbled beef. Mix everything together in the skillet until the cheese melts and coats the beef. Spoon the cheesy beef mixture over the toppings onto the sandwich.
